THE Rotary Community Shop of Launceston would find it very difficult to maintain its successful history if it were not for the 15 or so volunteers who devote such time and energy to the shop.
Items are regularly brought in by the generous citizens of Launceston and District and these need to be sorted, cleaned, priced and put on sale in an organised manner.
The volunteers become very good at doing this. One local volunteer is Tony Fallon-Williams who has been working in the shop three or four days a week for some years and, to acknowledge his dedication, the Launceston Rotary Club have given him the award of being an Honorary Rotarian.
Dennis Howson, the shop manager, presented this well-earned award certificate to Tony in the shop.
There is one other Honorary Shop Rotarian who is assistant manager of the volunteers, namely June Down, who has been ill but will be fit enough soon to resume her duties in the shop and who says that she can’t wait to be back!
Mr Howson said: “The Launceston Rotary Club would also like to thank Amy Dennis and her colleagues at the Cornish and Devon for their help and interest.”
