BUDE Library went vehicle mad last Wednesday (January 26). For the last two years the Children Centre's Parent Forum volunteer, Becky Rowland, has led Bude Library's story time and made a real noise about books! A mum of a boy herself, Becky noticed that across Cornwall more than double the number of girls attended library story times compared to the numbers of boys. With literacy levels amongst boys lower than that of girls, Becky aimed to re-address the imbalance in Bude. This special event hopefully dispelled the myth amongst parents that children have to sit still and be quiet in libraries. A fantastic afternoon was had by everyone and lots of new youngsters enjoyed making a big noise about books! Becky runs Bude Library's 'storys, songs and activities' every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Suitable for 18 months to four-year-olds.
