FIVE male voice choirs are to host an 'emergency' concert this Saturday to raise funds for flood relief in?Somerset.

Members of Launceston, Liskerret, Pelynt, Burraton and Tintagel Male Voice Choirs have put together a selection of songs performed at the Federation of Cornish Male Voice Choirs concert at the Royal Albert Hall last November.

The choirs have been 'concerned about the farming community on the Somerset levels' and wanted to help the community there.

Brian Jennings, Launceston choir chairman, said: "This was as a result of a chorister emailing me with his concerns last Friday. As a result, the programme has been hastily put together and we hope to be able show those unfortunate flood victims that people do really care about their sorry plight and want to help in any way possible."

Chairman for the concert will be the Rev Keith Roberts. It will take place 7.30pm on Saturday (February 15) at Launceston Central Methodist Church, with more than 100 choristers expected to attend.

Tickets will be £5 on the door, with all proceeds donated to farmers' charities.
