RAIN did not put people off from visiting the eight gardens open to the public at Bridgerule on Sunday, June 16.

Indeed, some travelled from as far as London, Chesterfield, Oxford and Somerset. With the gardens being very different from each other in size and content there was plenty on offer.

Rosie and Alan Beat at Bridge Mill have a smallholding, where ducks keep the garden free of slugs, and one hatched her eggs on the very day, producing six balls of yellow fluff for people to see.

At Hopworthy Moor Farm, Janet and Ivor Abrey were not only showing vegetables and fruit trees but also horses, ducks, goats and a broody hen.
