Residents of St Anne’s Residential home in Whitstone recently had a lovely trip out to the Donkey Haven Charity in Sutcombe.

They set off in the afternoon with nine residents excited to see the donkeys at the Sanctuary. They were warmly welcomed by Karen who owns the charity and Carina a volunteer.

There were six donkeys which residents were able to stroke and feed. Everyone had a really special day and all the residents loved seeing the donkeys, knowing that after being rescued they now lead a very happy life. One resident commented: “It was lovely, really lovely, one of our special days out.”

They even got a beautiful handmade donkey to bring back to the home as a reminder of this wonderful day.

Registered manager Emma Woolf joined the trip, she said: “Thank you to everyone who supported and made the trip a reality, it really is a beautiful place, in a lovely location, a must go if you have not already been!”

Karen and Carina went out of their way to make the day enjoyable for everyone.

Karen said: “It was a privilege to receive St Anne residents to The Donkey Haven Charity. Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon, the donkeys are both wonderful company and therapeutic and make everyone smile!
