ST GILES Lunch Club held its annual Christmas lunch recently in the village hall with 35 members attending.
Held from 1pm to 3pm, the members sat down to a three-course meal of soup or prawn cocktail followed by a turkey lunch with all the trimmings. Then it was Christmas pudding or fresh fruit salad.
The excellent meal was cooked by the club’s cooks Adele Jones and Rachel Stratton, who were assisted by Margaret Bolton.
Shelley Vanstone, Launceston Tesco’s community champion, came along to help prepare the lunch. Tesco donated the Christmas pudding and fruit salad for which the club were most grateful.
A well-laden raffle was held while the event was much enjoyed by all those who attended.
Anyone who would like to come to ther lunches, which are held every other Wednesday starting at 1pm, should call 01566 779028. They would be most pleased to see you.
The club were also invited to the local primary school for a Christmas lunch in early December.
The excellent two course-meal was cooked by the school cook Kate Pullen and staff.
Again the meal was enjoyed by those who attended. The lunch club are invited to the school once a month during term time to support the canteen.
