THE St Giles community shop committee organised a coffee evening with entertainment recently.

The event was to raise money for the shop building extension fund. The entertainment on the night was given by the Ashwater Community Steel Band, which was very much enjoyed by a large attendance who gave much applause to the band’s performance.

A tombola, cake stall and a very well laden raffle was also held.

The shop extension is now well underway and when work is complete the shop will be so much bigger, which will benefit the whole community.

The chairman of the committee, Ken Hamlyn, expressed his thanks to all who served the teas and coffees and to the band for their excellent performance and to all others who donated and helped to raise over £500 for building funds.
