A GRAND parade last Saturday marked the end of another fantastic Tintagel Carnival Week.
Starting from Bossiney and wending its way through the village and back, more than 40 entries and marching bands entertained a packed village crowd. The Tintagel fairy queen was Lili Appleby-Tremain, and her attendants were Ernie and Lucia Appleby-Tremain.
The overall winning entry was Tintagel Surf Club with Ghost and Pirate Ship, the best comedy award was won by Lynette May with family and friends as Club Tropicana, and Mary Dyer won the best dressed collector trophy.
Carnival vice-chairman Phil Aston said: “What a fantastic carnival parade — a big thank-you to all the entries for their fantastic contributions, the carnival committee and volunteers for all their hard work and village crowd for digging deep into their pockets and helping raise money for carnival funds.
“A big thank you this year goes Garvin, Malcolm, Dave and Ricky Tremain and George Climo, who have kept the village bunting up despite the best efforts of the Cornish ‘breeze’.
“Next year more than ever we are in need of new committee members to organise and run carnival week. Come on, Tintagel, if you want a carnival next year we need you to volunteer, come forward and join the committee — no volunteers, no carnival.”
