Seventy years ago, VE-Day - Victory in Europe - was celebrated in communities all over the UK. After six long years, the Second World War was finally over.

At the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre, a Victory Exhibition will mark this important milestone and photographs of those stirring times are being sought for display.

The Heritage Centre team would love to hear from anyone who has photographs taken in the local area of street parties and events in May 1945. These will be copied and put on display.

The Pembroke Dock Archive includes a large group photograph taken at the Meyrick Street end-of-war party and it is hoped that many of the faces can be named.

Another photo is of the parade through Pembroke, again believed to be taken in May 1945.

The third photo - which originated in Canada - poses a mystery. It is thought to have been taken in Pembroke Dock, but which street?

Information on any of these photographs - and of others - is welcomed by the Heritage Centre on 01646 684220 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]

The Victory Exhibition will be opened on VE-Day plus 70 - Friday, May 8.
