VANDALISM has been carried out to some slate seating in Market Place, Camelford.
At the May 3 meeting of the town council, deputy clerk Amanda Lash, said eight to ten names have been given to the police, and the officer in charge said they were exploring restorative justice.
However, Cllr Rob Rotchell said: “Traditionally when damage has been done to council property in the past we’ve pressed for prosecution. There’s a principle involved. I think we should debate it.”
He said it was not a deterrent to ask those involved with the vandalism to pick up litter for an hour.
Cllr Rotchell said before the council agrees to anything, it should be placed in the next agenda.
