The 1940s theme includes music, history, World War Two military vehicles, games, costumes, memorabilia and much more. Valero are the main sponsor and a representative of the company, public affairs manager, Stephen Thornton, will be opening the event.
It starts at midday tomorrow (Saturday), in a large marquee on the Cosheston Playing Fields, and ends at 10 pm. As a community event, it is aimed at all ages, with lots for everyone to see and do.
The afternoon begins with the Cosheston School fete, and continues with exhibits from the Sunderland Trust, the Penfro Model Club, local military vehicle enthusiasts and the village history group. A rounders tournament and other games will provide opportunities for more physical activity.
Live music and singing will come from the Penfro Minstrels, One Voice community choir, and Shanty Le Hara, and culminates in the high energy music of the Numbers Racket Swing Band.
Refreshments include various food stalls, afternoon tea, a pay bar and other food vendors.
