ST Gennys and District Horticultural Society held its 87th annual show on Friday, July 28 at The Legion Hall. The usual standard in vegetables, flowers, fruit, cookery, needlework.

Children’s work in all classes was lower than usual, but very good. The chairman M R Heard welcomed everyone, despite the weather not being kind, including Mr A Tilley who was opening the show. Before handing over to him they sang ‘Happy Birthday’ as Mr Tilley had just celebrated his 100th birthday.

Mr Tilley said a few words remembering entering in the show and declared the show open. Elizabeth Tilley presented a buttonhole to him. Also he came in the evening to present the trophies.

Teas were served by ladies of the committee and friends.See this week's Post for the show results.
