Delabole flower enthusiast, Mary Phillips has a rare sight in the her garden – in the form of a four headed iris. She said: "Normally, with irises you have one flower and another growing behind. Three is unusual but to have four is very rare. I've never seen anything like it, not with four heads. The funny thing is, in the same part of the garden there is a gladioli that has grown taller than me! There must be something in the soil!"
Mary, who has won awards at local shows for her wonderful flowers, also grew a tulip with seven heads some years ago – though in that case it was in a pot and not the garden!
