A HEALTHY baby was born at Launceston Community Hospital when a quick labour and circumstances meant his mother couldn't get to Okehampton Hospital, writes Natalie Venning.

Andrew and Fiona Ham, of Camelford, were expecting their baby to arrive on Monday, April 29, but Fiona did not feel contractions until a week later.

New mum Fiona said: "I started feeling twinges at around 8.30am, called the midwife, who was in Bude, and we met her at Launceston Hospital at about 11am.

"She checked how far along I was and was suprised that the baby was ready to come. She wouldn't let me get back in the car, it was that far along."
