SOUTHGATE stretched their unbeaten league run to eight games with a well deserved win over an improved Wadebridge side.

Southgate started slowly, playing against the wind, but soon started passing the ball and created some good chances which ended in two goals in the first half, the first scored by John Lodge and the second by Oli Gynn, who latched onto a great pass from Dale Wallington.

Wadebridge pulled a goal back from the rebound after Adam Porter made a brilliant save, but the defence were slow to react, and soon levelled at 2-2.

Joshua Bunkum restored the lead with a brilliant solo run ending with a calm finish. Wadebridge continued to exert pressure and were rewarded with a well deserved equaliser.

This seemed to boost Southgate and their workrate paid off when Alex Finch scored his first Southgate goal.

The defence of Dave Sillifant, Jake Maguire, Brandon Forsyth and Josh Bunkum prevented the visitors from adding to their tally. John Lodge completed the scoring and his hat-trick with two more well deserved and well taken goals.

Christian Jasper, Dan Braunton, Dan Theobald, Tom Whitehouse and Nathan Farmer also played their part in the victory.

Man of the Match: Dave Sillifant, who is having a great season.
