COUNCILLORS of Bude-Stratton Town Council have expressed their deep concerns over the new paperless planning scheme, introduced recently by Cornwall Council.
‘Paperless planning’ means the councillors should be able to access documents to be discussed at meetings on the Cornwall Council website. However, at the recent planning committee meeting on Thursday, September 29, the councillors were unable to access the important planning documents, meaning they could not discuss items on the agenda of the meeting.
Frustrated, mayor Cllr Lea Deely said: “Difficulties in Cornwall Council’s servers means that time has been wasted and we can’t make decisions on the planning applications, as we cannot access them.”
Cllr Bob Willingham added: “If it’s going to be paperless, it’s got to be good!
“We’ve been unable to access the planning documents so are unable to make a decision as the paperless planning system is inoperable.”
