Chris Gilbert of Pensilva beat more more than 200 runners to win the 44 mile Classic Quarter ultra-marathon on Saturday (June 26). Temperatures topped 20 degrees Celsius during the race which saw Chris the first person to cross the finish line with a time of 7 hours and 33 minutes.
The Classic Quarter, organised by Endurancelife, raises funds for Cornwall Hospice Care and takes place every June – this is the fourth year that it's been run from Lizard Point to Land's End. The route along the South West Coast Path takes in breathtaking views, and is tough-going with steep climbs and descents.
