A FATAL collision on the A39, at Helstone, near Camelford, has left two dead and several seriously injured.

A 30-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman have died following the collision on the A39 on Saturday.

Emergency services were notified at approximately 3.50pm to a three-car collision. A grey coloured Jaguar XJ Super V had been travelling in the direction of Camelford when the car was in collision with an oncoming blue BMW on a left-hand bend. The Jaguar was then in collision with a Nissan Qashqai VI.

The Jaguar was being driven by a 30-year-old man from Helstone, who tragically died at the scene. His passengers, a 15-year-old boy from Port Isaac and a 40-year-old man from Delabole, were airlifted from the scene and taken to Derriford Hospital, in Plymouth, where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

The BMW contained a 70-year-old man and 70-year-old woman from Sevenoaks, in Kent. The couple was airlifted to Derriford Hospital, however, the woman died on arrival. Her husband has sustained life-threatening injuries.

The Nissan contained a 65-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from Essex. Both received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The road was closed for nine hours whilst a full forensic examination of the scene took place. .
