A MEETING of the Bude Pub Watch was held at the Globe public house on Wednesday, January 21.
During the well attended meeting nearly all the licensees of Bude and the surrounding district were represented, together with Mr Keith Kennard North Cornwall District Council Licensing Department, Sgt Lynden Hughes and Mr John Olver of the police licensing department.
Under the chairmanship of Mr Kevin Anderson (Inn on the Green), a number of issues were discussed amongst which were incidents of anti-social behaviour that had occurred on or around licensed premises in the last month.
Collectively and following careful consideration the Pub Watch representatives banned two individuals, one receiving a six-month ban and the other a twelve month ban. A further nine individuals will receive a warning letter.
Commenting following the meeting, Sgt Lynden Hughes said: "Once again Bude Pub Watch has shown itself to be an organisation that takes seriously incidents of anti-social behaviour that occur on or near licensed premises.
"The action they have taken today demonstrates their commitment to the safety of our community and sends a strong message to all those individuals whose behaviour falls short of acceptable standards."
Photographs of those banned will now be supplied to each licensee within the scheme. This is done to ensure that during their 'ban period' these individuals will not be able to socialise on licensed premises within the Bude area.
Sgt Hughes added: "Those that have received warnings will be left in no doubt that any repeat of their behaviour will result in a ban."
