FIFTEEN-year-old twins from Launceston have been selected to play for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain was founded in 1952 by Dr Denis Wright and exists to give exceptionally gifted young brass instrumentalists the opportunity to perform advanced music and receive the highest quality teaching.

The sisters, Cathryn and Charlotte Nuta, who both go to Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, will attend the 2017 Easter course, which takes place at Uppingham School from Saturday, April 8 to Saturday, April 15. This course celebrates 65 years of the National Youth Brass Band.

The course will conclude with two spectacular end-of-course concerts, which will take place at Uppingham School on Friday, April 14 and West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge on Saturday, April 15.

The conductor for the Easter 2017 course is the National Youth Brass Band’s artistic director, the internationally reknowned Bramwell Tovey.

The guest soloists will be Philip Cobb, principle trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra, and Peter Moore, co-principle trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra.

On Saturday, April 22, the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain will be performing at the Barbican, London. The conductor will be Bramwell Tovey and soloists will be Philip Cobb and Peter Moore.
