RETIRING secretary of the Holsworthy Twinning Association Janet George was presented with a bouquet of flowers and vouchers for a meal out for herself and her supportive husband Ken in appreciation of her 13 years in office, writes Christine Williams.

The presentation was made at the annual meeting of the association last Wednesday, February 10.

In his tribute to her, president Alan Harris said she had done excellent work looking after the association’s activities, in particular organising the biennial trips to Holsworthy’s twin town, Aunay-sur-Odon, and the return visits of French people to Holsworthy. Throughout she had shown commitment, patience and good humour.

Chairman Malcolm Orr said he would miss the support she had given him over the past four years.

He assured members, however, that in their newly elected secretary, Teresa North Lewis, the association was lucky to have a very competent successor, and he looked forward to working with her.

This year about 45 members from Holsworthy will visit Aunay from June

2 to 5.
