TO celebrate World Book Day, Mrs Wade, college librarian at Holsworthy Community College, encouraged students to compete in the official World Book Day quiz on Friday, March 4.
The library was buzzing, as 12 teams of students from Years 7 to 10 pitted their wits against each other.
Imaginatively named teams such as the ‘Land Army Girls,’ the ‘Speed Readers,’ the ‘Book Biters’ and the ‘Danish Cookie Monsters,’ who were unbeaten champions for the second year running, answered questions in six different sections — Happy Families, Connections, Picture This, School Days, Love and Stuff and Dystopia Calling.
Questions ranged from ‘Who is the narrator of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird?’ (Scout) (Jean-Louise) (Finch) in the Happy Families section, to the Connections questions — ‘What do the following have in common? Dinah, Orlando and Mog?’ (They’re all famous cats in children’s books — Dinah in Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Orlando by Kathleen Hale, and Mog by Judith Kerr).
Prizes were awarded to all teams — nobody went away empty handed.
