Lizzie Brock of Widemouth Bay, Bude was surprised to discover a loggerhead turtle while walking her dog along the beach at around 8.30am on Saturday. She explained: "The tide was right in and there was lots of seaweed. I was walking along and suddenly I was just standing right next to it." Other people had already walked passed the turtle, which was partially covered in seaweed, unaware of its presence. Lizzie rushed home to call beach ranger Alan Coltart and the RSPCA: "I was desperate to do something to save it. It was so exhausted." As well as Alan, three members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue arrived. The turtle, thought to be aged between five and eight years old, was wrapped in a blanket and placed in a box before staff from the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay came to collect it.
