STALWARTS of Altarnun organised Christmas lunches for anyone able to attend.
The events, spread over two days, Thursday, December 3 and Thursday, December 10, were sellouts — with more than 120 four-course, traditional Christmas meals served.
Spokesperson Helen Naylor expressed special thanks to so many people who bought and donated food, from turkeys to Christmas puddings, and to all who helped behind the scenes and on the days.
Helen said: “The generosity of individuals was simply amazing.”
As a result, a total of £1,050 was raised and put towards the fundraising efforts for the new church organ in St Nonna’s Church, Altarnun.
There was a surprise visit to the hall by Father Christmas, who handed out presents to all.
The team will be providing its next cooked lunch on Thursday, January 14, and an invitation to sample their cooking is extended to everyone.
Fundraising will continue for the new church organ. Everyone is invited to visit St Nonna’s Church, where the new organ is located — albeit in bits — ready for visitors’ help to finance the build. Donations will be much appreciated.
