A COMMUNITY allotment group has a number of differing sized vacant plots ready and waiting for new owners.
South Petherwin Allotment Gardeners (SPAG) has a diverse membership from young families to great grandparents, who are all passionate about growing vegetables, flowers and fruit.
SPAG also allows plot holders to keep their own chickens for free range eggs.
Its members create pleasure gardens and have a commitment towards creating natural spaces that protect wildlife.
Plot holders do not need to be expert gardeners as there is always plenty of support available close to hand.
The group is currently offering a 'try before you buy' scheme where prospective members can rent the plot for £5, which will cover insurance fees, from now until the annual meeting in February or March 2015.
This will give people just enough time to plant overwintering vegetable plants to enjoy throughout the coming months as well as giving a head start for the spring.
Full annual rentals apply thereafter and are £30 for a quarter plot, £40 for a half plot and £60 for a full plot.
SPAG always welcomes volunteers and donations in the form of wood chip, gardening resources and equipment, plants, labour and other materials.
Contact Joanne Tennant by emailing her on [email protected]">[email protected] or calling 01566 775494 to arrange a visit to the site and select a plot.
