THE new Ruth Burden Community Trust has invested £2,600 in community projects in Launceston and South Petherwin.
Launceston Carnival, Charles Causley Festival 2016, South Petherwin Community Shop and South Petherwin Cricket Club all received funding from the Cornwall Community Foundation administered fund.
The fund supports community projects within the parishes of Launceston South and Central, Lawhitton, South Petherwin and Lezant.
Grants range from £250 to £1000, larger sums can be awarded in exceptional circumstances.
Kirsty Philpott, operations manager of the Cornwall Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be managing the Ruth Burden Community Trust and the valuable causes supported.
“The fund has supported a diverse range of projects from community events to sports clubs both enhancing the lives of the local people, improving facilities within the area and providing opportunities.
“Many of the projects supported are managed by a dedicated group of volunteers, with very low operational costs making a grant award go a very long way.”
