Following the extremely sad news of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II the parish of Kilkhampton made a number of arrangements to honour her.
On Saturday, September 10, the Principal Proclamation was made at St James’s Palace. During this time the Kilkhampton’s Union Flag was returned to Full Mast from 11am that day, until 1pm the following day (Sunday). It was then lowered to half mast again until the end of mourning after the funeral.
On Sunday, September 11, following the County Level Proclamations, a Proclamation was read at 6.15pm, at Lych Gate, St James’s Church by the parish council vice chairman Councillor Kingsley Bryant.
A book of condolence was available in the Church of St James’s which remained there until the day following the state funeral.
Floral tributes could be placed from Thursday evening along each side of the path, leading up to the church door from Lych Gate. All flowers were removed at 9am the day after the funeral.
