THE Trelawny's Army contingent is preparing for a trip to Twickenham on Sunday after Cornwall romped their way to the finals of the Bill Beaumont Cup for the second year running. Supporters hope the Cornish side will defeat Lancashire this year to take home the coveted title. Many Cornwall supporters travelled to Hoe Lane, Ware, on Saturday to watch their side secure a 13-9 victory over Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire were first to score after four minutes when a run down the flank by winger Nick Hankin provided a penalty for not releasing the tackled player, and Lawrence Rayner slotted the kick. But Cornwall took only a few minutes to respond, with a 30-metre driving maul leading to a try by B J Chapman, converted by his Launceston team-mate Kieron Lewitt. This gave the Cornish side a lead which they never let slip. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
