JACKIE Hannaford of Kilkhampton will be collecting Treats for Troops later this month. She will be collecting items to send to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan at the end June and beginning of July at the Co-op and Morrisons, Bude.

Jackie has been supporting the soldiers and sending them parcels since 2006, when her son Richard was serving in Afghanistan. She has always been overwhelmed by the generosity of local people and as a way of thanking them, Jackie is organising a fashion show at Penstowe Manor, Kilkhampton on Tuesday evening, June 16 at 7pm.

The fashion show will be hosted by 'Off the Peg' and all the volunteer models will be having their hair styled by Y2K, Bude and their nails and make-up done by Zanna Health and Beauty, Bude, all for free.

Any profit Jackie receives from the event will go to 'Treats for Troops' to help buy much needed supplies, including eye wash, hand cream, flip flops etc.

Jackie said: "Although I'm still asking for money, people will be able to come and get some enjoyment from the show. It's something a bit different and a little way for me to say thank you for supporting us."

Tickets for the show are available from Y2K, Zanna, Kilkhampton Post Office or on the door. If anyone would like to volunteer some of their time to help Jackie with her collections please contact her on 01288 321523.
