TEIGNMOUTH residents will have the chance to feature in a major film about the tragic voyage of lone yachtsman Donald Crowhurst.
Up to 200 extras will be needed when filming starts in June. Superstar Colin Firth will play Crowhurst, and the director is award-winning James Marsh.
Deep Water Productions will hold a public casting, and said it was keen to use residents.
The film will be released worldwide, and provide another major publicity boost for the resort.
Teignmouth mayor Cllr Dave Matthews, said: 'You just cannot buy this sort of exposure – it is a massive coup for us because the film will be seen by millions.<
