ON Sunday, May 12, the Mayor of Bude-Stratton Town Council Bob Willingham, along with members of the Sealed Knot, gathered to lay wreaths at the Battle of Stratton memorial to remember the 390 men who lost their lives during the battle in 1643.
The Stamford Hill memorial service is a yearly tradition and usually one of the first duties undertaken by the newly voted in mayor. Plans are underway to hold an event to commemorate the Battle of Stratton in 2020.
