PRAISE has been given to a council for its 'triumphful' transformation of a town park at a national awards event.

Holsworthy Town Council has transformed Stanhope Park over the last couple of years, working alongside Fields in Trust.

The park was one of three shortlisted sites in the Most Improved Fields in Trust Field category along with Orangefield Park in Belfast and Village Hall Site in Hertfordshire.

Town councillors Ken Watson and Jon Hutchings recently attended an awards ceremony held at Lords Cricket Ground and hosted by Olympic medallist and BBC pundit Steve Parry.

The awards celebrate the achievements of the past year, of Fields in Trust and its partners, focusing on individuals, landowners and other organisations who have worked hard over the last 12 months to ensure that everyone has access to protected outdoor recreational space.
