PLANS for a B&M store at Launceston Retail Park have been supported by town councillors.

Councillors discussed the planning application for the extension of unit one at the retail park at Hurdon, formerly the B&Q store, to create two retail units and one shop/restaurant/café unit. This will include the discount retailer B&M, and as yet unnamed ‘premium food retailer’ and a coffee shop.

At the meeting on November 10, Cllr Dave Gordon asked if there were any further details as to what the ‘premium food retailer will be’. While there was some speculation as to what the retailer could be, there are no further details in the planning application submitted to Cornwall Council.

Planning committee chairman Cllr Rob Tremain said although ‘it may not be the retailers we wish, quite a staff will be employed’.

The final decision rests with Cornwall Council.
