AFTER years of complaints from members of the public regarding parking, double yellow lines could soon be put in place at certain parts of Bude.

Cornwall Councillor for Bude, Nigel Pearce (Liberal Democrat), told the full meeting of Bude-Stratton Town Council last Thursday that he hopes they’ll be adopted in a number of areas across the town.

Cllr Bob Willingham bemoaned the fact that it’s taken at least three years for them to be introduced around Crooklets and Summerleaze beach car parks.

Cllr Pearce said: “We’re in the final detailed planning stage and that’s scheduled for October and November and they should be in by March at the latest.

Cllr Pearce later told the Post: “People are parking in areas so lorries can’t get out while Crooklets in the winter is also a problem.”

He also said that the following areas are among those he hopes will be given double yellow lines.

He said: Some of the areas which are being focused on are Summerleaze car park’s entrance and exit, Crooklets Road, Golfhouse Road. While there are a number of places where there have been issues accessing.

“Cornwall Council is in the final stages of consultation at the moment and have been consulting with the local community for the past 18 months. Hopefully it’ll be done by March.”
