A VACANCY has arisen for a councillor on the 12-seat Holsworthy Town Council.

The vacancy will be advertised for 14 days and if during that time ten electors send a written request to the returning officer at Torridge District Council and there is more than one candidate, the council will hold an election.

Should there be only one candidate, he or she will be elected (uncontested) without the need for a poll.

If no request is received for an election, the parish council will be required to fill the vacancy by co-option.
