IT WAS announced on Monday, September 11, that Holsworthy Town Council is looking to renew the two separate leases to both the Holsworthy Football Club and the Magpie/Royal British Legion (RBL) who operate the clubhouse at the football ground.

Both leases will be for a period of 21 years to allow both organisations a period of stability.

To ensure the financial wellbeing of the football club, the town council has also decided to waive the rent due under their new lease for one year.

The council is pleased to learn that the Magpie/RBL this year has also decided to grant a sum of money to the football club out of its profits and the town council hopes that they will now continue to award a grant to the football club each year to ensure its ongoing financial sustainability.

A spokesperson for the council said: “The council will continue to work with both organisations to ensure that the football club thrives and both organisations benefit from the continued use of the clubhouse by the members of the Magpie/RBL club, the football club, the wider Holsworthy community and people attending the football matches during the season.”
