THE church at Davidstow can finally say goodbye to scaffolding that has been in place there since last summer, writes Helen Pusey.
The scaffolding was erected to enable work to restore the tower — estimated at around £130,000.
Churchwarden Peter Brown from Tremail said: "It has been a labour applying for grants. English Heritage provided 60% to 70% of the money needed; after that others looked favourably to awarding other money."
Grants also came from the Cornwall Historic Churches Trust but the church had to carry on applying for other funding.
Mr Brown added: "Two grants came in just last week, quite out of the blue and one was from an independent person."
