THE baton arrived in style at Camelford last Saturday lunchtime — in a procession of three wonderful old cars.
The first was a 1914 Model T Ford bringing the county chairman Barbara Corbett and Camelford WI president Sue Reed.
The next was a 1968 Morris Minor 1000 and the third a 1955 split-screen Morris Minor.
The cars in procession were black, white and black to represent the colours of St Piran. The vehicles were kindly loaned by Barbara, John and Paul Hough and Pat and Graham Fletcher.
Members were welcomed to Camelford by mayor Andy Shaw, who said Camelford WI had been part of the town's history for almost 76 years.
Sue Reed welcomed women from Boscastle, Marshgate, St Kew, St Teath and Trevena Tintagel WIs and invited them to walk with their banners to the Methodist Church for tea and cakes.
In the church there was a display of household items and children's toys from the last century and a video showing black and white photos from the WI and Camelford in the early years.
Marshgate and Camelford also had a display of their craft items.
