THE Post was delighted to hear an African Leopard tortoise that was reported to police as stolen was recently reunited with her owner.
We reported (Post, July 5) that Becki the tortoise was taken from her cage in her owner Lesley Parker’s garden in the Whitstone area on Friday, June 29.
Lesley was very worried as she said Becki would die in the cold in the cold if left out at night. African Leopard tortoises have to be kept warm all the time — above 15 degrees centigrade.
Becki was found around two to three miles away from home in a garden, to the surprise of the owners when they returned home from holiday.
Lesley said: “There’s no way she could have walked that far. I think whoever had her maybe panicked and put her wherever they thought she might be found. She’s absolutely fine.”
