LEADERS of some of Devon's councils came together to discuss plans to work with each other and share services, recently.
Cllr Gary Porter, Leader of South Holland District Council and Vice Chair (Conservative) of the Local Government Group, spoke about the benefits of joint working and LGA membership to Torridge District Councillors, Leaders of other Devon Districts and Cllr Alison Boyle from Devon County Council at an informal council meeting held in Bideford on Monday, September 26.
A spokesperson commented on the meeting: "Promoting joint working and spearheading progress nationally of shared services is top of Cllr Porter's agenda. He believes that driving innovation and implementing new ways of working to share services across multiple partners for the benefit of customers is the future of local government.
