Voluntary or community groups serving residents in the Holsworthy area are being invited to apply to Torridge District Council for two different sources of funding.
Firstly, as reported in last week's Post, the district council is inviting applications for the 2009/2010 Councillor Community Grants Scheme which enables councillors to support projects benefiting residents in their ward. Each councillor has been allocated a budget of £2,000.
Anyone interested in applying should contact their appropriate ward councillor in the first instance.
There is also a Community Grant Scheme which aims to assist in the development of local services and improve the quality of life for the local community, whilst also helping the council to achieve its priorities.
Many different projects can be supported, including the costs for new community events, funding a new community based project, or purchase of equipment to enable a local organisation to develop.
Applications are invited from local voluntary and community groups within the Torridge District for grants of up to 50 per cent of eligible costs of projects or equipment. The maximum grant available is £2,000. The applicant will be expected to match fund the grant with his or her own resources.
In 2008/2009 the Holsworthy Mission Youth Cafe benefitted from this scheme by receiving funds to run extra activities for young people.
