THE results of the Torridge District Council election, held yesterday, have been announced and Jon Hutchings (Conservative) was elected for the Holsworthy Ward.

Cllr Hutchings is in his second term as mayor of Holsworthy and will now take on the role of district councillor for the area.

Cllr Hutchings is possibly most known in the town for his recent involvement for the fight to see the inpatient beds return to the town’s Community Hospital as well as his enthusiasm to provide a new Pavilion for the town and larger community events such as the recent WWI commemoration day and Christmas events.

Results: ALLEN, John (Independent) — 314: HAMMETT, Tom (Labour) — 75: HUTCHINGS, Jon (Conservative) — 698: STYLES-POWER Christopher John (Liberal Democrat) — 151.With an electorate of 3,542 there was a turnout of 35.04% with 1,241 ballot papers issued.
