LAUNCESTON travelled to Bude with two teams, enjoyed the unseasonably good weather and came home with a 9-3 victory to Launceston 'A' (against Bude 'B') and 10-0 to Launceston 'B' against Bude 'C'.

Launceston 'A' fought hard, with the men losing on a match tie break and the new pairing of Sarah and Taz securing a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 victory in the ladies' doubles. Both mixed pairs won, Sarah and Graham battling long and hard, but eventually proving the more consistent and taking the match tie break 10-5, and Rod and Taz overcoming the second mixed pair 7-6, 6-4.

Launceston 'B' were playing a rearranged match and regular pair Tim and Barry started strongly and had several chances to take the second set 6-2, but eventually prevailed, 6-4, 6-4. Sue and Helen dropped to 1-4 in the first set of their ladies' rubber, before finding their rhythm and winning 6-4, 6-4.

Sue and Tim took their mixed match 6-4, 6-3 and Barry and Helen were delighted with a 6-3, 6-3 result after their last outing together which had felt like the longest match in winter league history, and which they lost to the wind and a match tie break.

Sarah played as strongly as ever, moving her opponents around with plenty of top-spin. Taz showed that she has been working hard on her game, combining fluid strokes with a steely determination. Sue took plenty of opportunities to wrong foot her opponents, taking the ball early and striking deep. The men, playing more regular pairs, worked well together and played some superb tennis.

Launceston 'A': Graham Worth, Rod Wood, Tamsin Worth and Sarah Statton

Launceston 'B': Tim Mitchell, Barry Frain, Sue Parsons and Helen Davies
