A HOLSWORTHY man has been named as a top apprentice in an wards ceremony at Bicton College.
Advanced Apprentice Edward Ward, received his top student in Level 3 Land-based Service Engineering award for his high quality and consistent practical and portfolio work.
The achievements of apprentices from across Devon and beyond were celebrated and recognised at a special awards ceremony last week.
Certificates and special awards were presented to over 30 Bicton College apprentices who have shown outstanding achievement in such diverse occupations as Floristry and Service Engineering. The group completed their training between October and December 2011, and many have already progressed to the next qualification level.
Ed completed the Foundation Diploma in Service Engineering at Bicton then had a year out in industry and progressed to the apprentice scheme with his employer, Alan Snow Agricultural Engineers at Holsworthy.
Ed has gained valuable knowledge from his workshop foreman Steve Johnston and having successfully achieved his advanced apprenticeship is a creditable member of staff at the firm.
Bicton College Engineering tutor Gordon Finlay said: "Ed has always been a team player and works well with other members of his group at college and at work he is a worthy winner."
