BUDE Canal and Marshes have won the Green Flag award along with only six other sites in Cornwall.

The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales and recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country.

Paula Dolphin, the chairman of Bude Valley Management Advisory Group and Cornwall Councillor for Flexbury and Poughill, says: "Bude Canal and Marshes are appreciated by locals and visitors alike; I am proud of the officers and rangers that helped us to get this award."

Bude Canal and Marshes are owned and managed by Cornwall Council and Pethericks Marsh owned by the Environment Agency. A small team maintain the canal and marshes and where possible enhance the biodiversity of their habitats.
