AFTER a long break Bude Jets prepared themselves for their first match in seven weeks against the Stars 'B' team from Barnstaple.

Both teams started shakily in freezing weather conditions but as they warmed up the shooters Steph Cook and Steph Dinshaw were playing well in the circle and the first quarter finished fairly even with Jets trailing by one goal.

The second quarter started well with some great defence work in the circle by Kelly Swatton and Kirsty Dawe who were up against an awesome attack duo who rarely missed when they were given a scoring opportunity.

Jets went in at half time with a 3 goal deficit to make up.

The third quarter began with the Stars coming out fighting but the Jets worked tirelessly throughout with some good centre court play form Natalie Vodden and Carrie Short but unfortunately the whole team were out-played and the quarter finished 20-30 in favour of the Stars.

There was a glimmer of hope in the fourth and final quarter with the Jets attack of Helen Newton, Steph Dinshaw and Sharon Box firing on cylinders and although they finished that quarter scoring more goals it was too little too late and they could only reduce the arrears by 2 goals.

Player of the Match: Sharon Box.
