CORNWALL County Cricket Club will be captained this year by Tom Sharp for an eighth consecutive season, it was confirmed at the 106th Annual Meeting held at Truro. Sharp was again re-elected unopposed and goes down in history as one of Cornwall's longest serving skippers.
Treasurer Keith Hore reported that the club's accounts had taken a notable downturn. Following last year's £11,000 profit he reported a loss of £4,602 on the year.
The President, Canon Ken Rogers, presented trophies including: The Canynge Caple Colts (Under-21s) Cup, Alex Smeeth; The 'Donald Cocks Cup' for fielding, Matt Robins (both Werrington); The Ron Tither Memorial Cup for Under-21 bowling, Sam Hockin (Bude).
All officers and committee members were re-elected unopposed: President, Reverend Canon K Rogers; chairman, Col. R W Potts; hon. secretary, Mrs Anita George MBE, JP; hon treasurer, K Hore JP; captain, T G Sharp; team sec/manager, G R Furse; Under-21s manager, S Hooper.
The County's 2008 competitive season begins on Sunday April 26 with a trip to Devon in the MCCA Trophy.
