READER Maurice Sheppard is hoping somebody can shed a little more light on this old miner's token.

Mr Sheppard came across the little piece of Forest history when he was digging his garden in Allaston Road, Lydney.

He said: "I was digging and it turned up. I washed it carefully and I'd like to know a bit more about it."

The token is engraved with the name of the Forest of Dean Miners' Association number 16 lodge number 103.
