THE class of 1958 who attended Sir James Smith's Grammar School met again last weekend — the fifth such reunion in 57 years.

Some travelled from Australia, USA, Canada, Germany and Switzerland. Six teachers also travelled to this special event.

On Friday evening many met for drinks at Bowood Park Hotel, and on Saturday a buffet lunch was held in the garden of their ex-teacher Carol Vincent in Boscastle, where more than 40 attended.

A reunion cake was cut by 93-year-old Jon Williams, who said it was a pleasure to return to Cornwall to meet former students.

In the evening a dinner was held for 51 guests at Bowood Park Hotel, where entertainment was led by Pete Bates and John Masters, with a witty recollection of school life.

Classmates who have been lost over the years were remembered with sadness.

Sunday lunch was held at Boscastle Farm Shop and Restaurant. The more energetic ones enjoyed a cliff walk.

That evening a dinner was held at the Riverside Restaurant in Boscastle, to round off an enjoyable weekend.
