RESIDENTS of Holsworthy Hamlets joined with the parish council to present an appreciation award to Chris Carroll recently.

Mrs Carroll has been editing and producing the Chilsworthy and Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Newsletter, thus promoting good parish communications, for 12 years.

Cllr Elizabeth Parker said: "As I understand it, Ken Carroll started the newsletter to promote activities in the village hall and village as a whole.

"However, for the past decade, it has been the sole responsibility of Chris and she personally distributes newsletters with the held of her many helpers.

"The newsletter now embraces so many different areas of information and notices, together with advertisements for local businesses, it really enriches and contributes so much to community life, enabling it to thrive and prosper in such a way that has become, in my view, the lifeblood of the parish."
